A very sweet and warm couple, Nadia and Charles were an amazing pair to photograph during their wedding. Coming from two of the most required professions – he is a policeman, she is a doctor – Nadia and Charles chose the Chateau Montebello as their wedding venue and hired the services of wedding planner Maryse Noel.
We began our photo journey with Nadia and Charles by kicking off a fun photo session in the Old Port. The two really love photography and taking pictures. Even after one and a half hours when grooms will typically ask for mercy, Charles was saying: Great, now let’s take a reflection of us in that little pool of water on this street.” The very words every photographer passionate about their work longs to hear.
The best part was when Charles and his partner arrived at our studio a few days after that photo session to collect the pictures. It was a weekday afternoon, so they were on duty in their full police attire. Upon opening the door, my colleague Olga saw two real policemen standing there. She then ran up the stairs, her face ashen white and with a trembling voice said: “What happened? There’s police at the door…” She was so dramatic in her speech and body language that for a second she scared me too!
But this should have been a sign of all the great things to follow as the wedding turned out to be perfect, just perfect! The bridal couple, Nadia and Charles got ready at the gorgeous Chateau Montebello, a huge castle made of wood beams. The ceremony was held outside in a lovely chapiteau. Everything was organized by Maryse Noel and her team to the finest detail such that we even had time to take pictures of every single couple and print them out at the end of the evening for them to take home as gifts.
Charles looked like a superstar from a James Bond movie, while his previously scary police partner magically transformed into a sweet and handsome best man. In her beautiful dress, Nadia looked like a real princess. After the ceremony it was time to take the bridal couple pictures. By this time, the sun was in a perfect spot creating warm soft lighting that is absolutely perfect for wedding images.
Maryse Noel, along with Walter (the florist) had made our work easier by creating backgrounds out of magnificent decorations in the hall with lots of detail and drama to it. The party was crazy fun and featured many great original contests. One game involved having all the men put balloons under their shirts in order to imitate bodybuilders. It was hilarious!
I enjoyed myself tremendously at Nadia and Charles’ wedding. And judging by the permanent grin on their faces, the bridal couple must have had an amazing time as well. But of course the facial expressions of the entire wedding party – which were captured by my camera, say it all. The pictures from Nadia and Charles’ wedding really do speak a thousand words.
