The beauty of memory is it only holds on to the most important parts of any occasion, and the beauty of a wedding photographer is that they do it for you. Weddings of friends and family come and go but when it’s yours, you want to remember all of it. The best part about wedding photographers is they allow you to enjoy the moment without worrying about forgetting it (especially after the bar opens). Photographs can be well posed and stylish, but the most genuine are the ones that are taken while the couple and guests are soaking in the event whole-heartedly.

The Key is Trust

Trusting your photographer is crucial, as they will be the one to decide which moments are the ones worth catching. I’ve spoken to women who wanted perfect portraits from pre-ceremony photo-shoots, and instead they received only pictures of their “bad side” and with angles that just didn’t work. Generally one Google search will allow you to find out if you like the way your photographer styles, which is vital. It should never have to be your job to make the photos work.

Weddings can be long from the ceremony to reception. There are so many opportunities to create the memories that will last forever in photographs. Not everyone is comfortable with a camera directed at them, so when the time comes there’s always got to be a subtlety to encourage natural beauty to blossom. The worst thing a photographer could do is take attention away from the reason everyone is there.

Of course, that stunning wedding dress can’t go unnoticed. There’s something really amazing about the realization that what you’re wearing may never be worn again. It has a shining moment, for everyone to look with envy, and then it could end up on a coat hanger for years to come. That’s a memory that won’t fade, but honestly, if you’re going to look that fabulous it should definitely be documented.
