Destination Wedding in Dominican Republic Riana & Dima
Colors: Fuchsia and turquoise
Tip from Riana: for a destination wedding on a beach get a dress that floats in the wind, creates beautiful elegant shapes.
Planning a destination wedding:
It’s a whole different process to put together a wedding in another country. The most difficult part is that planning from abroad it’s hard to visualize the place, the decor and the feel of the venue.
A lot of important decisions have to be made right there on the spot just a few days before the actual wedding. Riana wanted a reception to be held right on the beach. She wanted bright colours to create a happy celebration atmosphere. A combination of turquoise with fuchsia was the winner for a perfect destination wedding styling! We brought a lot of decoration materials from Montreal. Just days before the wedding we were assembling colourful fright fuchsia centrepieces and chair covers. But it made such a great ambiance! Very fashionable Kate Spade colour palette. Bridesmaids were wearing fuchsia dresses, the maid of honour turquoise dress. The bride had gorgeous fuchsia shoes. How she was looking for those shoes it’s another long story for a separate blog post :))) But the highlight of the wedding day were the four flower girls-little angels in big fuchsia dresses.
The wedding dress
Riana was wearing an off-white silk dress by Mila Rifkin a very talented Montreal wedding dress designer. The dress was made from scratch from the drawing that included all of Raina’s crazy ideas.
The romantic story
In the morning of the wedding day Dima wrote a very emotional romantic letter. It made Riana and her mom cry. Indeed Riana’s belongs to this category of women who’s beauty is unquestionable. The way her eyes look at you, the way her hair falls, the way she smiles, her posture and behaviour is just that of the superstars. Riana and Dima met 13 years ago on a dance floor in the heart of downtown Montreal. Since than their love grew strong throughout years and years. Their passion survived the long distance, the difficult studies, the long working hours, the invasion of parents, the house repairs, the crazy friends, the boring friends ( by the way that was more difficult than surviving the crazy friends), the arrival of the two beautiful daughters of course….and much much more… Magically they did not grew apart but grew into one strong family.
