Ah yes, the dreaded rainy wedding: smeared makeup, fallen up-dos and crying babies. That’s the ‘rain on your wedding day’ assumption. When in reality, your wedding is whatever you make of it. If you turn the rain into an opportunity for new creative ideas to form, you may surprise yourself, and find your wedding photos turn out even better than you expected.

Be Prepared…

If you’re having your wedding in the spring, make sure you talk to your wedding photographer ahead of time, and figure out what they plan on doing in case it rains. There are the obvious tips for getting ready for the actual wedding, but the photos are what you’re going to use to remember. Make sure you have a good idea of what you want if you have (or had before mother nature took over) specific ideas that you want to see play out. Put together a “What If” schedule that can be used in case of showers, whether they be sunny or stormy.

…Or Be Spontaneous!

Maybe you’d rather go with the flow and trust your photographer? That works too! Just remember if you put all the responsibility on your wedding photographer, there has to be a strong level of trust there. Let them give you suggestions, and focus on the person who really matters – the one you’ve decided to marry.
