Bride Gets Ready
The process of taking pictures of the “bride gets ready” session follows a similar formula to that of the groom – there will be pictures of the details, her interacting with her best friends and family, and getting dressed into her beautiful gown, and then ending with a portrait session.
A beautiful part of the wedding is capturing the actual process of how the bride gets ready. So please brides, do not get dressed before the wedding – have fun with your girl friends and enjoy the morning. Maybe get your details prepared for when the photographer comes, because it would be good to start off photographing any jewelry, meaningful items, and the dress before you get ready. Getting these ready will allow the photographer to take pictures of these items quickly and then they can focus on capturing all the special moments of the bride’s transformation.
Tips for the “Bride Gets Ready” photo-session:
If you have a make-up artist and all your bridesmaids are getting made up as well, this is a great opportunity to capture all the fun moments of the morning. When it finally comes times to take pictures of the bride putting on their dress, the process is full of fun and crazy moments with everyone swooshing by trying to help. We capture these grand moments, but also the small, special glances by best friends and family members who are helping out. Of course this an emotional moment, and not only for the bride, so we make a great effort to document every moment of it.
After the bride is finally transformed, it’s time for a private photo session. Unlike with the groom, this photo session last a bit longer, usually around 15 minutes, just so we can experiment with all facets of what the bride is wearing – especially the veils! The end product of this short, yet momentous photo session, are pictures that are worthy of being on a magazine cover. (We’ll actually be featuring a whole article next week on this “fashion session”, as it’s such a great experience for the bride!)
Then we usually go on to playing with the dress and trying to capture fun and glamorous shots with the bride and her bridesmaids. One really feels like a princess when wearing a wedding dress, and we want to highlight these feelings and emotions. when a bride gets ready it’s also a time to just have some fun with your best friends and let loose before the ceremony. If time allows, we can also take more formal pictures of family members – but there’s definitely also time for that later in the day!
The morning of the wedding is usually filled with a lot of jitters, but the bride’s personality always shines through once she’s around the people she’s closest to. The thing to remember would be to relax, have fun, and just take everything in!
