Family Portraits

Family portraits

There are many moments during your wedding that are candid and creative.  It’s important to not forget about the traditional pictures that you and your family will definitely appreciate. This is a moment where you can get professional family portraits. In the future your friends and relatives will be able to look back on these pictures and remember the special day.  Most likely these are the pictures that THEY will want framed.  They do make great gifts and great pictures to include in your beautiful wedding album!

It’s a good idea to give the photographer some sort of idea of how many people you’ll be wanting to take pictures with. We try to make the family portrait session as efficient as possible. The combinations of the people are adjusted on the go. Some family portraits may already be done in the morning.

For your help, here are the typical combinations for family members:

Family Portraits On the Bride’s side:

– Bride, groom and the bride’s family (immediate and extended)

– Bride with her parents and siblings (group shots and bride with each individual)

– Bride with both parents

Family Portraits On the Groom’s side:

– Bride, groom and the groom’s family (immediate and extended)

– Groom with his parents and siblings (group shots and groom with each individual)

– Groom with both parents

Please let your photographer know if there are any other important family members such as aunts, uncles, cousins etc. that would like a picture with you. This is the best time for it, once the main ones have been taken!

Of course your bridal party should be considered as well. Many people like to get the formal portraits with their best friends at this point. There may even be some time to take some creative shots with your bridal party in a different location. Some scenarios include fun action images of the guys and girls interacting with each other or with you!  Many people like to take jumping shots, or walk around the city as a group. Some have chosen to take Vogue-like approach and have a creative fashion shoot (even with your family), or perhaps something that relates to the theme of your wedding. The possibilities are essentially endless.  It would be wise to give some thought to scenarios beforehand and run them by your bridal party, to make the most of the day and have the most fun!
